What better publicity could you get than having all the jewels stolen which the stars were going to wear on the red carpet at Cannes. Am I "un peu snob" to wonder what the baubles were doing in the safe of a Novotel Hotel, or is the Novotel at Cannes more upmarket than most of the chain ? The story goes that over a million euros worth of necklaces and bracelets were taken along with the bedroom safe whilst the people looking after it where out partying. I can just seeing it all becoming a film in a couple of years time. I can even seen the charming actor who could play the sauve villians part, ( actually in my mind it is David Niven, sadly dead,) but I could be jumping ahead with the character and the plot.
