Redstarts fledged today, take flying lessons.

What a wet start to their flying lives, a cluster of little fluffy redstarts fledged today and are taking flying lessons around the courtyard and back into the eaves of the grange. We have yet another family of redstarts in the wall of the pigeonnier and the blue tits in the wall near the balcony must be nearly ready to fledge. We know that one kestrel is sitting on eggs as we can see tail feathers in the hole and another keeps bringing food, but strangely today all is quiet with them. How can you worry about wild birds when you have all these other domesticated pets needing care. I think it is because you know the percentage of small birds managing to survive the early perils of life is quite small.
First flying lesson, Mum shows how it is done!
