Went to see this group at their table of plants to exchange in the Sunday plant market at St. Antonin. Had a nice chat with the wife of the President of the group. His wife proudly told me about Pierre-Noel 's expertise, he has written books etc. and yes he does appear to be called Father Christmas. The objectives of the group are firstly to get together plant and gardening amateurs even if they do not have a garden.
To exchange plants and ideas for their culture and usage. To participate in the preservation of species.
Exchange original recipes for things grown. If you have an ancient variety of plant or vegetable and do not know what it is, if you contact the association they will give you advice on what it is and its culture.

The annual general meeting is friday 26th Oct in the Salle des Congres in St. Antonin. I might give this one a miss as AGM's can be boring but will ask when the next meeting is. It is 5 euros to join and the period runs from Sept. to Sept.
