The tower of the church in Saint-Amans-Soult in the south of Tarn was struck by lightning yesterday at about 11am in the powerful storms which swept the Mediterranean departments. The damage extended to six neighbouring houses as tiles and bricks rained down. Fortunately nobody was hurt, one octogenarian neighbour suggesting that the good lord had protected them.
