Light pollution in them there hills.

Our situation at Mas del Sol  is a bit " lost in France "ish" high on a hill in beautiful open countryside looking over to other hills. At night the stars are so clear I am sure coming up to Christmas we could see the star of Bethlehem. ( if it was there ) What other adornments are needed for  Christmas. French neighbours over the hill , who do not get me wrong are delightful, just misguided, have decked the house and barns with flashing Christmas lights, why? Hardly anybody goes up their road, probably we are the only ones who can see them in the distance.  We did go out initially to laugh when the donkeys started hee hawing and the dogs barking. We were pleased when the lights on the Chateau were turned off in Varen after the summer, only to be replaced with flashing Christmas horrors. Friends John and Jan have a farm house on the road below and I know in England they will be reading this, shaking their heads, being haters of light pollution.
Light pollution is one of the fastest growing most pervasive forms of enviromental pollution. It disrupts biological rhythms in humans and animals, particularly affecting nocturnal species.
