Chrysanthemums, the chosen flower
After the First World War, the French President M. Poincare said that all the war memorials should be decorated with flowers. The only flowers at that time of year to flower readily in pots were chrysanths. Since then the practise has spread to decorating cemeteries at Toussaint and as tomorrow is Remembrance Day, these flowers are still used.
