A Present for a Cook and a christening gift

This morning at the book swap were two little gems in collectible terms. The people who brought one said' give any money raised to charity and the other not sure who brought it, but they were happy for it to be given away so...

 With illustrations by Tony Gregson. A fine copy in fine dustwrapper, not price clipped or inscribed.A scarce copy to find in hardback.[ Sold by the previous owners of the bookshop Val and Alan Palmer in paperback but Val had never seen a hardback copy] A lovely Christmas present for the cook in the family.   20 euros.

Kate Greenaway     A Day in a Child's Life   SOLD
 First edition George Routledge and Sons no date. [1881] Square small 4to. Original cloth-backed glazed and bevelled boards, edges a little rubbed. Pp. 30, illustrated in colour throughout. The occasional mark, but a very nice copy. [Thompson: 31A; Schuster & Engen: 66; Osborne 11:63 - " .it was in this book that Kate Greenaway first showed her full power as a painter of flowers."]. 
Ranging on the internet from £207 to the cheapest copy which is not very good at £105

This copy being offered at 50  euros to TAG readers
It would make a lovely christening gift, a book that is more than 100 years old with beautiful illustrations.

Just found a third first edition
Georgette Heyer    Lady of Quality       SOLD  First edition  Bodley Head 1972   Not price clipped or inscribed. A fine copy in near fine dustwrapper. On the net at prices between  £46 and £22 . It could be yours for 10 euros It could start you off collecting historical novels in first edition or on a romantic  note it could be a present for that lady of quality.  [ No good if your partner is a right old slapper!]
And found a fourth

Wild Orchids of Britain and Europe  Paul and Jenne Davies and Anthony Huxley
First edition 1983 published by Chatto and Windus  The Hogarth Press.   A fine copy in fine unpriced clipped dustwrapper. It has a small neat inscription  Everything you ever wanted to know about orchids. On the net priced between £74 and for a poor copy £24. This is a fine copy and for the children of Mali we are asking 12 euros. A first edition cheaper than many paperbacks . Last book needing to  be sold, bargain at 12 euros
