Balloons down over Varen
Well worth the early rise to be in the fields at Najac for 7 am. I enjoyed seeing the work needed and all the intricacy to get the balloons up flying. The people hanging on to lines to hold everything down till the final shout from the basket of being ready. Lots of photos taken and then back home for croissants ( bakery open but not the cafe) Arrived home to find two balloons down in a nearby field and racing to our balcony which has a view down over Varen saw 6 balloons struggling to stay in the skies till one by one they found fields to come down in. The air was very still and we can only assume that lack of wind was the problem. Did this happen in ' Around the World in 80 Days?'
The 8 or so that came down must only have had flights of approx an hour to an hour and a half, but what views they must have had. Cannot stop mentally singing 99 Red Balloons.
