The danger of putting poison out
There is a widespread use of rat poison in some villages to control the rodent population. But using it indiscriminately can lead to catastrophic and unwanted results.
In the village of Saint-Pierre-le-Mer, Aude, over 200 domestic and feral cats have died in the past week. But nobody knows (or admits) who is responsible for the action. It may be somebody who has put rat poison out or a malicious cat hater. Complaints have been made to the gendarmes who are trying to find out what has happened. Local residents are worried that it could fall into the hands of children and affect them and other domestic animals.
