This morning Malc was out with the dogs for their morning constitutional, when he met Rene Allo, now his name is spelt Allaud, but is pronounced " allo"
Rene is a local good egg, very helpful neighbour( neighbour as in the sense, only 2 kms down the road) and member of the local chasse. Malc had quite a chat to him about the events yesterday with dogs and hunters.
Apparently it was a" battu administratitif" to kill foxes. A full team were out with a pack of dogs and two guards adminstratitif
Rene was there stalking in the valley bottom, and he says he was frozen, the sun just never got down there.
Malc forgot to ask about the traps but we think maybe the two days before the hunter was laying bait in certain places where then the fox would go back.
It would be useful if we, local landowners that we are, French, Dutch and English were told these things before being alarmed by it being thrust upon us.
Read the email below and you will see what I mean, and Charlotte could have been out in the woods with dogs all unsuspecting.
Dear Val,
Your post about the hunters and the setting of traps in the woods is very alarming! I heard the shots yesterday and wondered if I should ring the Mairie.
But now that you've mentioned traps, that is very worrying as my dogs run all over those woods on walks with us.
Can we report this as it is illegal to set any type of trap?
Charlotte.
