Localised hailstorm causes damage in Varen,Le Riols, Laguepie

Today Sunday 5th of August, a thunderstorm with huge hailstones  caused serious damage in Varen. Trees, branches and leaves littered the main road through the village, residents afterwards  were all out in the street inspecting the damage. One resident Roger Bowen on returning home from a very pleasant lunch found 8 large panes of glass broken in his lounge windows, glass everywhere and pets cowering under the  table. The hailstones as large as golf balls he  has preserved in his freezer as evidence for the insurance company.
Do we know anyone who can glaze his windows?  Contact Roger on tel.0563027570 Roger thanks everyone for their concern and help and he has now found someone who will repair the glass.
Further news on this story, at least two cars had their windscreens broken in Laguepie .One lady car owner has a car covered in  quite serious dents and smashed mirror. Another report of broken windows and rather special garden devasted with lots of work needed to put it to rights. We have lots of trees and plants ruined and a lot of  branches through out the gardens to clear. Sunny skies and hot temperatures for the end of the week... but no more storms please.

Jenny On and I were trapped in my Mini Clubman by the storm in the centre of Varen having recently left the Vide Grenier at Le Riols. We were half sheltered under a tree opposite the post office - the wing mirror was shattered by flying ice bullets coming at as from multiple directions  and the mini has multiple dents all over its bruised and battered body. We were probably luckier than the stall holders at Le Riols who were frantically packing when we left!
