President Hollande announced a government re-shuffle yesterday (Thursday 11th Feb) which affected two local politicians. Sylvia Pinel, who is the deputy for Tarn and Garonne, resigned her post as Minister of Housing to concentrate on her seat in the regional assembly and her role as member of the Assemblé Nationale. Her party chief, PRG president Jean-Michel Baylet, an experienced former minister and Tarn and Garonne president until recently, comes in to keep the PRG and T&G in the government. Baylet has resisted many solicitations to enter government (including under Sarkozy) but as minister for local government takes a major role in the new administration.
