Nous sommes le mercredi neuf septembre

What a wonderful morning, the mist in thin strips in the valley leaving the chateau of Varen in full sun. Malc and I both had to stand for a few minutes admiring and marvelling at the view.

The donkeys could be seen in a lower field and you will be pleased to hear that Rosie has recovered from her ear operation. It was Lucy who had the initial warty ear but the vet warned they were virulent and others might appear on the donkeys that were close. Rosy and Lucy the half sisters who both came at 6 months old more than 8 years ago, just cannot be separated. Where one goes the other is not far behind and often they stand with heads together, or one rests a head on the back of the other. Rosie's wart appeared and grew to a huge size in a matter of days, so needed removing and then burning off.  The smell of burning  donkey ears  bothered me and Malc but Rosy under anesthetic stayed calm. Lucy we discovered has now got another, as it is small we will try some medicine but the vet warns it might go the same way.
You did not know there was so much to learn about donkeys did you? ( neither did we!)
