Dear Malcolm and Valerie
I enjoyed reading your blog, both entertaining and helpfull (even though my French is probably better than my English). Thank you so much for including our « open garden ». We grow a lot of very unusual plants, and the British population does have a reputation for its love of nature. Herewith a report on the first 24 hours.
We opened Saturday in extreme heat . Météo France threatened violent hailstorms for the afternoon, with winds of 95 km/h. Météo Ciel promised 37°c followed by 39 mm of rain in the night . I am not good with your Anglo-Saxon measures, but I think that would be about 13 shillings and 4 pence. Anyway neither prediction materialised as such, so we are still here today with slightly damp grass but no real damage to the plants and much better temperatures. Sensible shoes are none the less recommended with, perhaps, some kind of a hat. The 5000 m² garden has a lot of shade, a fair bit of water, lots of insects but of course some parts are in full sun. Light refreshments will be provided.
You can find us on Google Maps at « La Farayrio 81630 Mongaillard »

p.s. I never tried TF1's météo. They probably had us down for « Fire and Brimstone ».
