Tumbleweed rolling down the streets of St. Antonin is not the impression I have of winters here or would want to give of the place. I have never been on my own in the Gazpacho listening to us crunching bread.. For those who wonder how life is here in the winter do not take this description as gospel. Obviously the place is quieter, some would say back to normal and shops in the centre of St. Antonin set up just to catch the summer visitors close down. I revel in each season here and as long as we have blue skies, the sometimes penetrating cold can be kept at bay by wrapping up warm. Our house is on a hill and catches winds from any direction but with double glazing and under floor heating, we are cosy and warm.We have some great friends and great social groups and last winter we started our ''Opera Evenings'' which were a great success. The Folk and Jazz club went on, once a month all winter and will continue. For the ladies, Fifi goes from strength to strength with lots of new and interesting groups planned for the new season.Click the symbol on the side panel if you want more info. Malc plays boules and bridge and is having piano lessons at Arnac, just too much to do.
Do not worry if you are buying a house here and are planning living here full time, you will love it and I hope like Malc and I you will enjoy the seasons and what is on offer.
Sue Hunt is right about the Fifi group, feisty ladies some of them, not all, and I am a keen member of this group[ although I do not think of myself as "feisty" but I might still struggle to where my apostrophes should go, never mind spelling apostrophes correctly.] but I tend to like the activities rather than the lunching, but those who lunch have a super time. Similarly with the 'dining group' in Varen, if you like getting together once a week, chatting and having a laugh, all well and good, and continue to enjoy.
I looked back on TAG for winter activities for last year and if you have just moved here and were worried about winter [ as someone mentioned to me] look at a brief snapshot of what we have in store... tumbleweed indeed, just an over exaggeration.
